Synthetic Media Definition
Synthetic media includes AI-generated, AI-edited, AI-enhanced, or materially manipulated images, videos, audio, avatars, voices, faces, likenesses, scripts, captions, characters, testimonials, product demos, or other media.
Minor, non-material edits — such as color correction, cropping, or noise reduction — are not generally treated as synthetic media for purposes of this policy; the focus is on changes that affect what the media appears to depict or who appears to have created it.
Allowed Uses
Allowed uses include creative media, educational examples, fictional demonstrations, AI-assisted editing, enhancement, transcription, translation, captioning, and clearly disclosed AI-generated avatars or presenters.
Prohibited Deepfake Uses
Prohibited uses include non-consensual impersonation, fake endorsements, fraudulent business communications, scams, phishing, social engineering, election manipulation, public safety misinformation, and non-consensual intimate or defamatory synthetic media.
- Generating a fake endorsement video using a real public figure's likeness
- Creating synthetic audio of a real person making statements they never made
- Producing political deepfakes intended to mislead voters about a candidate or event
Disclosure
Users should disclose AI-generated or materially AI-modified media when the absence of disclosure could mislead viewers, listeners, customers, business partners, or the public.
Where platforms provide native synthetic-media labels (such as a social platform's "AI-generated" tag), those tools should be used in addition to, not instead of, clear disclosure in the content itself.
Likeness Rights
Users are responsible for obtaining consent and respecting rights of publicity, privacy, copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws before creating or distributing media resembling identifiable people, brands, voices, characters, or copyrighted works.
AI Governance Principles
- Human-centered design: AI should support people, creators, teams, and businesses while preserving accountability.
- Transparency: Users should understand when they interact with AI, synthetic media, automation, or AI-assisted workflows.
- Safety: Lisaiceland DBA may restrict uses that create security, privacy, legal, reputational, or human-rights risks.
- Privacy: AI workflows should minimize unnecessary data collection and respect confidentiality, permissions, retention limits, and applicable law.
- Accountability: Customers and users remain responsible for how they configure, deploy, supervise, publish, and rely on AI outputs.
